Swimwear From ItalyI read a fashion blog this week that stated emphatically that skirt lengths will be lower, down to the knee. That colors would feature slate gray and olive green. At that point my heart sank and I wondered how I could exist a year of more in such a drab and boring environment. Then I switched to looking over Spring collections myself at Elle. The first I turned to was Miu Miu. Oh heavens, thanks for that. The lengths are so short that they took my breath away and that's saying something! Then I scanned for color and saw some amazingly bright prints and patterns at Kenzo and some more interesting work at Paul and Joe. So all is not lost, I figure!
Even though we're still in the grip of Old Man Winter, my thoughts are inevitably turning towards resortwear, swimwear and active wear and there is some great stuff coming at us. I can't wait to see what the on-the-street guys and gals are going to do with some of these looks that are now emerging for 2008. Along those lines, take a look at a couple of sites I've discovered that cater to the resort minded. The first is Lingerie New Style and features swimwear from Italy. I love to mix up my sources, so I'm checking these guys out and right now they are featuring some of the line at a 50% off rate. Woo! Hoo! Take this one as an example if you have the bod for it. A triangle halter top bikini Amarea style with a low-rise bottom with small back and minimal front coverage. Side ties. Normally this sells for $129.50 but the sale price is $59.70 which is a whopping 54% off! Another example is this one piece swimsuit Amarea style 237 made with Lycra, fluorescent effect. Light reflection gives you a rainbow effect. "Fish" on the side is decorated with sparkling sequin. Push up padded cups create perfect cleavage. Don't try this without a A+ body shape. The price is $97.50, which is 39% off the regular $159.70. When I get to the trends for dresses among the resort collections, I honestly don't see an awful lot to select from. Consequently, I turned to the emerging designers featured by Nordstrom in their via C grouping and immediately I can spot things that are new, innovative and fun and certainly can be worn in a resort setting. Take this Dolce & Gabbana offering in a camisole top. I'd get this and wear it with a pair of skinny deck pants any time and I think it's an eye popper. It's a silk Cap Sleeve Satin & Jersey Camisole with a sweetheart neck. Gold trim along neck and hem. Nice and trim look, don't you think? It's Nordstrom's item # 214899 and price is $295. Then how about this Silk Flutter Sleeve Dress by Milly? Front and back square neck and short flutter sleeves. It's Nordstrom's item # 208167 and priced at $375. Real spring look and resort worthy, I think. Don't give up - just keep trolling!
